Defending Farmers and the Right to Food. A series of member-led seminars, briefings, publication launches and debates. These will describe how food providers should be integrated into decision making processes and could be better supported in order to realise the Right to Food and food sovereignty. This will help to ensure food for the hungry and poor consumers, to secure the livelihoods of small-scale food providers and to sustain local environments, enabling adaptation to climate change. Italy: World Food Day activities promoting the Right to Food

World Food Day activities involving over 150 countries to promote the Right to Food theme, include the 27th World Food Day ceremony, and the Right to Food Exhibition
In the morning, the President of Germany, Mr. Horst Köhler, the President of Tanzania, Mr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, the Director-General of the FAO, Mr. Jacques Diouf and the Secretary General of FIAN International and Coordinator of the RTF working group of the IPC, Flavio Valente will attend the Official Ceremony.
In the afternoon, the IPC and the Italian NGOs will organise a civil society event, “The Right Way to Fight Against Hunger” in the same room as the Official Ceremony with two panels involving civil society, FAO staff and state delegates. Organized by IPC, FIAN International, Italian NGOS, FAO. In FAO Headquarters, Rome, Italy.
