The European FIAN Face-It-Act-Now Campaign has asked individual candidates regarding their future commitment to promote the Right to Food. The individual candidates listed below have expressed their support to the following recommendations stating:

that the EU takes a leading role in realising the right to food worldwide;

that EU agriculture, trade and investment policies do support and never undermine the Right to Food in other countries;

that EU Development Policies adopt and implement a strong Human Rights approach, promoting particularly Right to Food policies and the enforceability of this right in partner countries;

that the EU firmly supports the Right to Food within multilateral institutions, for example within the FAO Reform Process or towards a full Human Rights accountability of the International Financial Institutions.

that the EU firmly supports the Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and its Member States sign and ratify this new instrument as expeditiously as possible;

that in all EU Policies related to the Right to Food, the imperative of non-discrimination and empowerment of women is ensured;

that the EU strengthens the implementation of its Guidelines on Human Rights Defenders, taking into account that among them many risk their lives in the struggle for the right to food;
-
that the Right to an adequate standard of living is guaranteed without any discrimination within the EU for every person and particularly for the most disadvantaged such as children and elderly, migrants, refugees and unemployed.
